At O’Neill’s Angels, our mission is rooted in service, compassion, and community. We were founded in loving memory of three extraordinary healthcare professionals—Kathleen Mulholland; Dr. Patricia O’Neill; and Dr. Peter Smith. Though their lives were tragically cut short, their impact remains timeless. To honor their enduring legacy, we established the O’Neill’s Angels Health Sciences Scholarship—a $2,500 educational award designed to support a graduating high school senior who embodies these same values and aspires to make a meaningful, lasting impact in healthcare.

We are thrilled to announce the recipient of our very first scholarship:

Maeve Grace.

​

Defined by Resilience, Driven by Purpose

The daughter of a teacher and a firefighter, Maeve learned early in life that true strength is defined by resilience. From overcoming the total loss of her family home during Hurricane Sandy to taking on a natural leadership role as the oldest of three siblings , Maeve has faced every challenge with a spirit of determination, warmth, and positivity.

Her path to healthcare was inspired directly by her family. After her father suffered severe injuries from the physical demands of firefighting, Maeve watched physical therapy transform his recovery—helping him regain motion, strength, and confidence. That experience solidified her dream of becoming a Doctor of Physical Therapy.

​

A Tradition of Excellence and Service

Described by her educators as "diligent, spirited, and compassionate", Maeve has consistently distinguished herself both inside and outside the classroom:

• Academic & Extracurricular Excellence: A Scholar-Athlete Award winner taking rigorous AP coursework, Maeve is also a lead performer in school musicals and a skilled vocalist in her school's ensemble.

• Clinical Preparation: Completed over 100 hours interning at Rockaway Beach Physical Therapy alongside her school's Sports Medicine Diploma Designation program.

• Community Leadership: Logged hundreds of hours of service, from organizing the Sam Strong Volleyball Night for cancer awareness to volunteering with the Sisters of St. Joseph, serving in Campus Ministry, and preparing meals with Xavier Mission.

Passing the Torch to Clemson University

This fall, Maeve will be attending Clemson University to major in Health Science as she works toward her goal of becoming a Doctor of Physical Therapy.
