O’Neill’s Angels was founded in memory of our beloved grandmother, aunt, and uncle—three people who lived their lives with love, compassion, and a helping hand for anyone in need. Their legacy inspires everything we do.
Our Journey
1921
Irene Dorothy Gobeille is born in Providence, Rhode Island.

Irene attends nursing school in Providence, RI, with clinical training at Morrisania City Hospital in the Bronx.
1949
Irene marries Peter in Brooklyn, NY. Together, they raise three daughters: Kathleen, Patricia, and Ann.

Irene works as a nurse in Brooklyn, serves as a public school nurse, and spends many years at Victory Memorial Hospital in Bay Ridge until she becomes ill.

Kathleen O’Neill Mulholland graduates from Long Island College Hospital (LICH) School of Nursing where she worked briefly. She later transitioned into school nursing and worked at the New York City Department of Health.

Kathleen O’Neill Mulholland has children including Erin, Meghan, Shannon, and Peter Mulholland.

Patricia and Ann O’Neill both graduate from Kings County School of Nursing and work at Kings County Hospital for several years.

Dr. Patricia O’Neill graduates from Downstate Medical School, completes a fellowship in Miami, returns to Kings County as medical staff, and later specializes in Trauma and Surgical Critical Care at Brookdale Hospital.

Dr. Peter Smith, graduates from Columbia University Medical School and works at Downstate, LICH, and Brooklyn Hospital in pulmonary medicine.
2003
Dr. Patricia O’Neill and Dr. Peter Smith are married.
2008
Kathleen O'Neill Mulholland begins welcoming her grandchildren Riley, Jack, Keira, Casey, and Maeve into the world.
2016
Kathleen O’Neill Mulholland passes away at home after a courageous 20-month battle with stage 4 ovarian cancer, surrounded by her loving family.
2023
Tragically, Dr. Patricia O'Neill and her beloved husband, Dr. Peter Smith, lost their lives in a car accident caused by a drunk driver.
2024
O’Neill’s Angels was founded by Erin O'Hanlon, daughter of Kathleen O'Neill Mulholland, and her children as they serve the community through community outreach projects such as hosting toy drives, school supply drives, preparing and donating meals, volunteering at nursing homes, and hosting healthcare seminars such as anti-vaping awareness.
2025
O’Neill’s Angels became a registered 501c3 nonprofit organization. Eldest grandchild Riley O’Hanlon hopes to continue her family’s legacy through community service and the pursuit of a career in healthcare like her grandmother, aunt, and uncle did.
